Joint Reconstruction
Total Joint Reconstruction is the orthopaedic surgical subspecialty that focuses on the replacement of joint surfaces when joint cartilage is lost due to age, overuse, arthritis, or injury. Joint replacement surgery is often performed when pain and stiffness limit normal activities. The goal of total joint replacement is to reduce joint pain and restore function to improve a patient’s mobility and quality of life. New surgical techniques and advances in prosthetic devices have shortened recovery times and enhanced the reliability and longevity of joint replacement.
The highly specialized joint surgeons at Tuckahoe Orthopaedics perform many hip and knee replacement procedures as well as revision surgery when previous replacements fail. Our physicians also treat conditions such as*:
- osteoarthritis
- rheumatoid arthritis
- post-traumatic arthritis
- avascular necrosis
- work-related injuries
Drs. Fred McGlynn and Matthew Dobzyniak have extensive experience in hip and knee surgery and provide quality, personal care to their patients. They offer the newest technologies in joint reconstruction including gender specific prostheses and minimally invasive surgery. These physicians and their staff take pride in what they do, working closely with patients and their family members to prepare them for joint replacement surgery. This is accomplished through education of our patients in all aspects of the surgical procedure including the pre- and postoperative periods, rehabilitation, and follow-up care.
